Bunraku is a style of Japanese theatre that is performed with the use of human-sized puppets generally operated by three people. It is performed against a black background with the puppeteers dressed in black to render them invisible. Dezukai is a form of bunraku that is performed with the primary puppeteer unhooded and therefore visible to the audience. |
